BCCG welcomes Alexander Dennis and its Double Decker Bus in Berlin
HM Ambassador Sir Sebastian Wood KCMG welcomed the British bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis in Berlin on 14 October. Being British, the Ambassador was reminded of London when moving to Berlin recently and seeing double decker buses here.
With several guests and press present, the Ambassador pointed out the significant market share of the company in the bus and double decker public transport segment in cities, especially in the UK, Canada, the US, Hongkong and Singapore.
The company´s CEO Colin Robertson and his colleague Martin Gruber poined out that Alexander Dennis is now establishing its presence in Germany, starting to present its double decker bus Enviro 500 in a trial in Berlin, where it will run a 6-week trial starting soon. Also, Alexander Dennis recently introduced its
products in Switzerland and Poland.
The audience was informed by UKTI Director Tony Sims and Colin Robertson with his colleagues about the strategy of the company abroad.
As the Berlin transport system has traditionally been utilizing double decker buses, the guests present thought that these buses will be well suited in a growing German public transport market. BCCG and its network welcome Alexander Dennis in Germany.

The BCCG congratulates the British Ambassador Sir Simon McDonald KCMG to his promotion as the new Permanent Undersecretary to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
We are most grateful for his continued generous support of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and its members and friends. BCCG: Britisch-deutscher Handel auf Rekordhöhe
BCCG e.V.: Der Handels- und Wirtschaftsaustausch zwischen Deutschland und Großbritannien erreichte 2014 laut Zahlungsbilanzstatistik der Bundesbank einen neuen Rekord:

Der britisch-deutsche Austausch von Waren und Dienstleistungen
rangiert demnach für Deutschland an dritter Stelle (nach den USA und
Niederlanden) im bilateralen Austausch.
Das gesamte
bilaterale Handelsvolumen inkl. Waren und Dienstleistungen betrug 2014 177 Mrd.
€, ein Anstieg von 7% gegenüber 2013 (165 Mrd. €). Davon betrug Handel an Waren 136 Mrd. €, ein
Anstieg von 8% im Vergleich zu 2013. Die britischen Exporte an Waren nach
Deutschland beliefen sich auf 44,1 Mrd. € und
die deutschen Warenexporte nach Großbritannien ca. 91,9 Mrd. €. Das Volumen an Dienstleistungen betrug insgesamt 40,9 Mrd. €, +4% gegenüber 2013, davon britische Exporte nach Deutschland 20,3 Mrd. € und deutsche nach Großbritannien 20,6 Mrd. €.
Wir erwarten auch in den
kommenden Jahren eine weitere Zunahme des Handelsaustauschs.

BCCG: UK-German Trade at Record
BCCG: Bilateral trade between Britain and Germany was at record high in 2014, showing continued growth in trade of goods and services over the recent years:
The most recently
published statistics of the Bundesbank for 2014 with revised figures again show
the bilateral British-German trade to be the 3rd largest of all
German bilateral trade relationships (after the US and the Netherlands), with
strong growth of over 7% compared to 2013.
Total bilateral trade
including goods and services in 2014 was EUR 177 bn, up from EUR 165 bn
in of 2013. Thereof, total trade in goods only was EUR 136 bn, up 8%
compared to 2013, with UK exports to Germany at EUR 44.1 bn and German exports
to the UK at EUR 91.9 bn. Total trade in services was EUR 40.9 bn, up 4%
compared to 2013, with UK services exports
to Germany at EUR 20.3 bn and those from Germany to the UK at EUR 20.6 bn. We
welcome these developments, which illustrate strengthening scope of bilateral
relations between the UK and Germany.
